Clare writes the following about Gathering Blue :

I have seen and heard people saying that Gathering Blue is as good or better than The Giver, but I have to respectfully disagree. I feel that Gathering Blue is a simpler version of The Giver, and is therefore, more boring. This is shown by not only the drastic difference in size, but also in the simplistic wording as well. I do not discourage reading either books and only wish to inform others about these pieces of literature. -C
