Garfield writes the following about Hatchet :
This book was about a boy who survives a plane crash. His Pilot had a heart attack and her lands on a island. Having to learn how to survive with his only tool a hatchet given to him by his mother. He is also is having to survive with his parents sudden divorce. On the island he learns skills and tricks to survive. He learns how to make fire, hunt for food, and make shelter. Just when he finally gives up hope in getting rescued and builds confidence in surviving in the island he is found. This is very good book. I really recommend it for someone to read. This is coming from someone who hates reading.
