Pearly Pickle writes the following about Hating Alison Ashley :
Hating Alison Ashley is an intriguing book which children can relate with. It portrays many problems a young girl could face such as the agonies of school-girl rivalries, family embarassment and watching someone beat you at everything you were ever good at.
this is definately a gripping book about the emotional portrayals of the dilemmas of two teenage girls, Erica Yurken a.k.a. Yuk and miss perfect, Alison Ashley. In her last year at the disadvantaged public school, Barringa East, Erica Yurken dreamed of changing her name and becoming an actress. She had always felt superior to the others at her school and refrained herself from making friends with them but all of this changed as a new girl comes to school, Alison Ashley; she was beautiful, well-mannered and most important of all replaced Erica as the teachers’ pet.
