Aditya Garg writes the following about Matilda :
This novel is about a girl called Matilda who was a brilliant kid.She was not liked by her parents and was abused by them. She was treated like a scab.To teach a lesson to their parents she played several tricks on them and each time they worked. When Matilda was put into a school she stunned everyone with her intelligence. She came across many mild people like Miss Honey, her class teacher as well as very formidable ones like Miss Trunchbull, her school headmistress. She had a very special power. She could push ad pull anything in the air in any way she wanted. Finally her parents shifted to Spain but she persuaded them to let her stay with Miss Honey. She was moved to a much higher standard where she competed with students more than twice her age.
