I didn't enjoy this book at all. Though Ayn may have some interesting things to say and some good ideas, this fictional story didn't do a very good job of getting them across in an effective manner. The characters have no depth--just cliche mindsets--they are exactly what you expect they would be, knowing the plot of the book. Ayn would have been better off without this book--she should have written a nonfiction paper to express these ideas or something along the lines of The Virtue of Selfishness. The last two chapters were her attempt to make her point--and they almost seemed detached from the rest of the book, proving the insignificance of the plot. I know that her farfetched scenario was an attempt at scaring people into her idealistic society by mocking a current one, but I found it too farfetched to be successful. Even if we continued to live and develop at our current rate, I don't think there will every be a chance of going into such a deep regression.
