John Wilson writes the following about Cirque Du Freak :
In the suspenseful fifth book of the outstanding Cirque Du Freak series by Darren Shan, Darren encounters 5 life or death situations to prove he is a worthy vampire to the rest of the clan and to show that Mr. Crepsley wasn't wrong in making him a half-vampire. But if Darren does not face his tasks or fails in either event - that is if he doesn't die while failing - he will be sent to the Hall of Death to be thrown into a spike pit and put shame on his name forever. But if he can succeed he will be rather famous as the youngest to ever overcome the perilous Trials of Death and will be sent into the vampire history books as a glorious legend. Without a doubt, this is my personal favorite in a book series to choose from. Darren Shan puts so much effort in keeping you stuck to the book because of the suspense that continually builds around every corner. I give this book a 9 because it is one of the best in the series and obviously this series is second to none in my opinion.
