Ellora Islam writes the following about Tall Thin and Blonde :
Tall, Thin, and Blonde is a great book. This book was about two girls who are best friends, Jennifer and Amy. They discover a whole new world when they begin ninth grade in high school. In the book, Amy wants to get a fresh start on high school, so she drops a few pounds and gets a perm. Jennifer on the other hand, doesn't worry about what people think of her. Also, Jennifer can't believe that her best friend, Amy is starting to worry about what people's opinions are about her. Jennifer starts to notice that Amy is starting to hang out with the popular girls. Amy starts to tell Jennifer to hang out with her and the popular girls, instead of the 'Martians'. The Martians are the group of girls that weren't popular. Jennifer started to hang out with them anyway since Amy abandoned her. Amy also tells Jennifer that she could lose a few pounds and that she needs to do something with her hair. So Jennifer tries to change her body image by going on a diet and dying her hair blonde. I can sort of relate to this story because this kind of thing happened between me and my best friend. We were sort of in a fight and we kept telling each other to change some things about ourselves. It wasn't like we were going on diets or anything, but it was sort of like we were impressing each other doing things that we normally don't do. It was really because of our stupid fight, just like how Amy and Jennifer were telling each other to change things and begin high school with a fresh start. I noticed that in the story that in the story the narrator is Jennifer, since she is the main character. The thing that makes reading easier and what makes it fun to read is that the book makes you are Jennifer and that everything is happening to you. That makes you understand the story better. With the help of her new friends, Jennifer starts to realize that if someone is your true friend, you shouldn't have to change yourself in any way to make them like you. So Amy and Jennifer become friends being different in many ways. I recommend this books to young adults.
