Freckle Juice By: Judy Blume One day Andrew a boy in Ms. Kelly’s class noticed Nicky’s freckles. He wanted freckles so bad, he basically dreamed of them. He asked Nicky how he got those freckles but Nicky couldn’t explain to him why. He was born with them and had them his whole life. Sharon told Andrew that she knew a secret formula to grow freckles. It was a recipe called freckle juice. Andrew rushed home that day to make the freckle juice. He was so excited and looking forward to have freckles. He got out all the ingredients and drank the so called “freckle juice”, he drank all of the disgusting juice. He watched in the mirror to see how fast the freckles would appear. The freckles never came, this disappointed Andrew. The only thing that came was a green face and a terrible stomach ache. He felt extremely sick and couldn’t do anything but moan and groan. His mom wanted to rush him to the hospital when she saw his green face but since he left all those ingredients it made her get very upset knowing that he did this to himself and had her scared to death. He didn’t want to go back to school without any freckles on his face after he paid all his money for the secret recipe. He decided to draw freckles on his face with a blue marker just so Sharon wouldn’t feel good that she outsmarted him. Ms. Kelly, Andrew’s teacher, thought he looked better without the freckles so she wanted to tell him but not make people with freckles not want them anymore. So Ms. Kelly called Andrew to her desk and told him that he looked better without freckles and gave him a secret recipe called washing your face off to him for free. Now Andrew is happy. When Nicky notices he is only boy with freckles he wants the secret recipe Mrs. Kelly gave to Andrew. Ms. Kelly didn’t know what to do but to tell him that he looks better with freckles. Sharon overheard and decided that she was going to make more money off of him wanting his freckles to go away. She told him that she knows a secret recipe on how to get freckles away and that it was fifty cents and she would give him the ingredients of mess and outsmart him as well as Andrew
