This book was about a brave little boy named David Pelzer. His life was perfect until the drinking got worse, and so did the disipline. The only person controlling him was his mother. She didn't beat anyone else but him. She made his life horrible. And she did horrible things to him. Just to let you imagine what he went through, he was kicked, punched, slapped, and forced to eat nothing for days. And when he was allowed to eat he'd have to eat disgusting things.David went through the beatings by telling himself...if he just concentrated he would make it. That is how he survived. He slept in an old army cot in the garage. Nobody cared for him anymore. The two most horrifying things that happened to him was the day his mom got an idea to burn him. She only succeeded in burning his arm. The next thing she did was stab him in the chest. Things get better for him and ...whoops I almost said the ending.
This was way more exciting than its sequel. Both books told how he struggled in life but you would feel pit for him in this book. This book makes you feel goo after every beating because he still finds a way to survive.
This book was the greatest book I have every read. The ending is the greatest part of the story. Yes, this book is very sad, but likeI said, he always finds a way to survive. This book will make you want to get up and do something about it. So if you're looking for a good book to read, this is the one.
