This was avery interesting book. I found it very easy to understand what Hakeem felt about leaving his home,friends,and school. Hakeem has to move to Detroit because his father is sick with chemo and they cant afford to keep their house so they had to leave and go move with their Uncle James and Aunt Lorraine and his cousin Savon. Savon and Hakeem had lost contact with eachother so they didnt get along well. Savon didnt like Hakeem d because his parents were always comparing him to him and telling him that he should be more like Hakeem because he has his act toghether and he gets good grades and Savon doesnt. While in Detroit Hakeem and Savon were going head to head with eachother because Savon was jealous. Meanwhile Hakeem's Uncle James has this furniture store and he wants Hakeem to come and help out because Savon wont and Hakeem said yea even though he didnt want to. while on his way to work his uncle was talking about how there had been alot of robberies. but then the subject changed to Savon and his uncle wanted hakeem to look out for him and it turned out that savon was sneaking out of the house through the window and coming in real late. later on hakeem and savon got into a fight and savon's dad threatened to put him out if he didnt obey his rules. then while hakeem was on the porch he overheard savon and his friends planing to do something on friday but and hakeem suspected that they was planning to rob a store but he was wrong savon and his friend were rapers and he didnt know.
