Tetris Fume, the evil first hermetic scribe joins forces with Merrin, an evil kid who wants to darken Septimus’s destiny and take his name and fame. Tetris Fume helps Merrin darken Septimus’s destiny so Merrin can help Tetris Fume since Tetris is a ghost now and died along time ago, but came back somehow. Merrin creates a darke ring and makes one of his monsters summoning to equip it. The monster than can inhabit during the darke Queste that Tetris Fume summons. Tetris Fume forces Septimus to make the draw out of the Queste pot, but Septimus doesn’t do so. So, Fume summons a Siege which basically is a war and Septimus with his friends, Jenna, the princess, and Beetle, a retired scribe, leave and escape. Septimus receives a charm Hilgarde gives to him on the way on his escape, and says thank you. Marcia, Septimus’s master, faces the Siege with other wizards. After a while, the Siege ends and Marcia cleans up the mess of the Siege. Septimus looks at the charm Hilgarde gave to him, and freaks out. A stab of pain went down his back as he looked at it, and notices it is the Queste Stone. The Queste Stone sends any Apprentice on a Queste, and which ever Apprentice goes on it will not follow his own will, so Septimus has a quest to do so he can accomplish the quest, or else, he will never return. No Apprentice has ever returned from the quest, and pasted away. Septimus goes on a quest to face death or life, and bringing the princess which means it will bring great danger, plus the dark of the summoning that can inhabit people. If you like adventure and fantasy, this is a great book for you! If you are interested, the first book is actually Magyk, second book, Flyte, third book, Physik, and then the fourth book, Queste!
I find this book really interesting because of the adventure and the war Septimus has during the quest. I would rate it a 9 due to its detail and story. I didn’t rate it a 10 because of the beginning of the book. The beginning only told how Merrin escaped from his master, Simon, who has went to buy his love a ring. After the next few chapters, the topic of Merrin escaping subsides, and it is back to the protagonists. Merrin does come back in the story after words. If there was one thing I could change, I just would put a better picture for the cover since the cover is only the Queste Stone which is a lame picture, just a Stone with lapis blue on it. I would rate the book cover a 7 that way because of that. I also would remove some of the beginning chapters since it tells too much about Merrin escaping.
