Jackie writes the following about Where the Red Fern Grows :
Last school year I read Where the Red Fern Grows with my 5th grade class. I loved it and could read it a thousand times over again. I enjoyed it because I for one, love dogs, and it is not one of those stories where all the good characters have a happily ever after. There is suspense and great quality to the book. It touches your heart and makes you feel a feeling you never felt before. Most of everyone in my class had either been crying, crying, or wet eyes while reading the end. Even our teacher. But that is what makes it so special. It leaves you with your heart touched, and when you close the book, you have to smile and think; 'wow! What a great book!' The movie however, was not very good. (But is saw the really old one!) They leave out a lot of important stuff in the movie and have bad sound affects and music. I would recommend the book to anyone who has any interest in dogs! I enjoyed this book very much, and I hope you do, too!
