I LOVED this book!We read it last year(7th grade)in school and I loved it! I even asked for it for my birthday! S.E.Hinton is one of the best authors ever!!!!!!! I defenatily recommend this to my friends who have not read The Outsiders. The book is about a 14 year old boy, named Ponyboy.The book takes a twist when Johnny, Pony's friend, kills a Soc( rich kids) because he was drowning Ponyboy.He lives with his older brothers Darry and Sodapop because their parents died in a car accident. They are part of a gang of Greasers(poor kids who wear hair grease) along with Johnny Cade,Two-Bit Matthews, Steve Randle and Dally Winston. One night after falling asleep in the lot,Darry hits Ponyboy. Him and Johnny run to the park where they meet Socs. Then, the Socs try and drown Pony, leading Johnny to kill the Soc. They go to Dally, who tells them to hide in an abandoned chrch on Jay Mountain. Then the church catches fire and Johnny gets hit on the back with a piece of burnt wood. He later dies in the hospital and Dally is so upset, he robs a store and commits suicide by pulling out a gun on the cops and letting them shoot him. The book was soooo good! One of the best I have ever read! On a scale of 1-10 I give it a 10!!!!!
