Lewis Jenkins writes the following about The Magician's Nephew (Chronicles of Narnia, Book 1) :
The magicians nephew is a story about the magical adventures of two children, Polly, Digory and his uncle Andrew who finds some magical rings that Polly and Digory use to visit new worlds, one of which is Charn where they find a witch and another called Narnia in which they meet a lion called Aslan.
I think that it is a very good book that has religous roots. I think C.S Lewis is a very good writer who has written many good and interesting books, this is certainly one of them. It has a good choice of vocabulary and is one of the best books i have read in a long time. It is written with very old language which suites the book well. The plot is well thought out with a few interesting and comical twists.
Some of the highlights of the story are when they enter Narnia and are all given roles, for instance the cabby becomes king and Digory has to fight temptation to recover the apple. One of the bad points in the story is when C.S Lewis shows his opinion and I found it quite off putting having someone saying that.
The main part of the story is based on the bible and Adam and Eve not fighting temptation and I think this book shows the other outcome of the decision they made and it ended up creating joy and peace in that world so maybe it would have been the same in this.
