Suparna writes the following about The City of Ember :
Jeanna DuPrau wrote a exceptional story that lushed the heart of readers. The cliffhanger or suspense that this story left off tempted me to read the sqeuel. Lina and Doon played great main characters, who were best friends until one incident changed their friendship. I can tell it was meant to be that Lina and Doon would get each other's preffered job. That's the first to how they will become friends again. I also thought the city was also part of how Lina and Doon's friendship will prevail. The city of Ember is close to danger and misfortune and even thought the citizens don't know yet, it's up to Lina and Doon to save the city.
