Yasmin Hodge writes the following about The Magician's Nephew (Chronicles of Narnia, Book 1) :
The Magician's Nephew is a book about travelling between two worlds. The worlds are very different, one being clustered and smokey and the other being a bright, lush green land called Narnia.
The main characters are Polly and Digory, who are the two children, who find themselves between worlds. The other main characters are Digory's Uncle Andrew, Queen Jadis and Aslan.

I think the way the end of this story connects to The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is very clever. The fact that a good clear picture is painted in your mind as helpful if the story is being read aloud.
Tying in with the image that gets painted in your imagination, the pictures in the book set the real scene.
The genre of this book is fantasy/adventure, so if you are fond of these types of books it's a nice one to read.

In my opinion i would give the illustrations 8.5 out of 10 seeing as they weren't in colour or particularly clear. Apart from that the pictures were great.
I'd vote the book a 9 out of 10 because this isn't just a book for boys, it's for both genders, it isn't aimed at any age group either so anyone could enjoy it.
Yes I would recommend this book because it is an exciting read.
