JulianaWetmoreFundraiser writes the following about The Lightning Theif :
Percy Jackson is a twelve year-old boy with problems. His mom is married to a bossy, fowl-smelling person who Percy nicknames Smelly Gabe, he is always getting expelled from school, and, on top of that, he is dyslexic and has ADHD. When he comes home from Yancy Academy for the summer, things go bad. Percy realizes he is a demigod. He is half mortal, half god. He goes to Camp Half-Blood, where he meets a few friends like Annabeth, daughter of Athena, and Luke, son of Hermes. One night, Percy discovers who his father is, and he is forced to go on a quest to find Zeus's stolen lightning bolt, and stop a war between the gods. Even with his friends help, can Percy save the Western Civilization? I strongly suggest this book because I have read it, and gotten my friends hooked on it. It is a great series that many kids could get into. Read The Lightning Thief, and all of the other four (soon to be five) Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan.
