Sage writes the following about Red Dog :
In Red Dog, Adam gets a dog from his mom and names his Ruff. Adam and Ruff are best friends and hhave many advebtures. Ruff had been raised with a mountain lion and so some men think that he could attack. Several strong, hateful men start tracking Ruff, and they think that he is dangerous and vicious. Adam helps Ruff aviod the men by taking him into the woods for safety, but Shonotak, the Indian died, and Adam got stabbed in the shoulder with a rocl.
Adam's mom takes him and Ruff back to the mountain lion's den and they see the mountain lion. It runs up the tree after being scared. Finally Adam and his mom realize that they have to set Ruff free or he will be killed. Adam, brokenhearted, sobs as he tells Ruff goodbye because Ruff must stay with the mountain lion.
I would recommend this book for its adventure and action, but it also contains so much passion that I think anyone would enjoy it: from 5-95 it is the perfect choice.
