Olivia C. writes the following about The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe :
This is by far the best book in the world. It is about four children who prepare for a boring summer but end up having the best adventures ever. They discover another world in a wardrobe where they have the most wonderful experiences. They find out that the world, Narnia, is in captivity and are asked to help. My father read this book aloud when I was about nine and I knew it was the best book I had ever known. I have not yet discovered a better one*. The illustrations, drawn by an amazing artist, Pauline Baynes, make reading to oneself fun even for a young kid. Children should read this book the minute they can read a novel, or have it read to them as soon as they can understand a good story, and if you haven't read it yet, you should read it anyway and it can be read hundreds of times! This is the best book ever! I know of no better characters, plots, or themes. This novel is an allegory of the Bible, which gives it the most important meaning and symbolism. *The other chronicles of Narnia books are very good too, I actually do not know which one of the series I like best. There are seven. *Warning*--After you read this book you will probably never be able to stop wishing you could go to Narnia or at least meet one of the phenomenal characters. Read it anyway! I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!
