1996 writes the following about Parvana :
The book Parvana is about a girl growing in Afghanistan ruled by the Taliban who are an extrem relgious military group.
Since the Taliban took over one of thier rules are girls are not allowed to go out side without a man or covering up their body.
Soliders burst into Parvana's home and take her father to prison while others search the house. So Parvana was forced into becoming a boy and help take some responsibility for her family. She had to risk her life in danger and vilent city of Kabul.
She lived in a old, half bombed building in a small room with a liitle wash room. The other people who lived with her is her mother, father,2 sisters and 1 brother.
If you like stories of different peoples life in Afghanistan than this is a execelent book to read. This story has many different emotions to it. Its sad, exciting, happy and touching.
She is always doing what her mother says and she shows alot of passion to her family and friends. We recommend that people 8-14 should read this book to get a understanding of life in Afghanistan.
