I think the book had beautiful illustrations that matched the text perfectly.
Anansi the spider was taking a walk one day in the cool forest when she came upon a moss covered rock. “What an interesting moss covered rock” said Anansi and boom she hit the ground. She woke up an hour later wondering what just happened. She said it again “what an interesting moss covered rock” and again she fell to the ground. She woke up an hour later and thought that this was a magical rock. And every time you say the magical words you become unconscious for one hour. Anansi had the cleverest idea come to her mind. So, she kept walking through the cool forest and saw her friend lion. In front of lion was a pile of yams. Delicious and fresh yams. Anansi thought that she could trick the lion into saying the magic words and taking the yams when he becomes unconscious. She did the same to elephant with bananas, a rhinoceros with a watermelon, a hippopotamus with pineapples, a giraffe with grapefruit, and a zebra with oranges. From behind the trees, flowers and shrubs a little bush deer was watching. She quickly grabbed coconuts and brought them back to her home. When Anansi showed she followed her and when Anansi tried to make her say the words her plan backfired.
I wouldn’t change this book because it is fantastic the way it is.
