Jackie writes the following about A Child Called :
After reading the book I thought that was sad. A child having to go through life getting abuse is wrong. His mother would punch him, beat him, mistreat him for no reason. She no longer considered him a member of the family, but just an "it". Dave would steal kindergardeners lunch to eat and his mother would make him gag it up. She made him drink clorox and ammonia water. She made him wash the dishes on a time limit if he did not wash them in a certain time he was denied to eat. She would make him sleep in the basement in an old army cot. She never made his brothers do anything. His brothers were allowed to do anything by taking them on picinic. All he ever wanted to be was loved, to be hugged and dreamed that someone would one day come and rescue him to freedom. He was his mothers slave. The book was a very emotional book you must go get this book.
