Danie212 writes the following about The House on the Gulf :
The House on the Gulf by Margaret Peterson Haddix is about Britt, Bran, and their mom. For the summer, they are renting the Marcus’s house in Florida. The only catch is they don’t have to pay for it. After being disowned by their grandparents, and their dad leaving them, Bran is forced to take over. Including getting his mom into college, and the family into this house. But are they supposed to be there?
