The main character Tally is in a futuristic place way ahead of us. They refer to our time period as the Crusties. Tally had to give herself up to see if the cure that David’s mom made would work on Pretties. So even though she doesn’t remember anything very well after the pretty surgery she goes on with her life. She even makes it into one of the crews. The crew she gets into is the Crims. There she meets Zane. He knows she can cure him from being pretty and not having his own thoughts. Tally gets the pills and gives one to Zane and one to herself. The pills seem to be working and they are both brought back to normal but the one flaw is Zane is having some dangerous side affects. The only way for him to be saved is to go run away to the new smokeys. So they all try to make this huge escape into the outside. Only minutes before they have to leave a few people deside they’re happy being a pretty. Tally gets lost from everyone else and stays in the woods for a few weeks. There she meets this tribe that is being watched and are being held into this little reserve and are being observed by pretties and specials. Tally has to stay there until a pretty comes to check on the tribe. Tally then steals the hovercar they brought and escapes. She then makes it to the place she was supposed to meet everyone a month ago. David is there and remembers all the feelings she has for him. She then joins the rest of the group where Zane is doing very bad.
This book is really amazing. It just got better and better and had so many twists. There was a hook after hook. I never wanted to stop reading! I would definitely give this book a 10. The way things are worded you can picture this whole event in your head. I would recommend this book to boys and girls. Someone who really has an imagination to picture this wonderful story.
