~Sunnii_bunniies~ writes the following about Project Mulberry :
The book Project Mulberry was such a wonderful story! Which makes it so hard for me to write a review about it, but I have to or I would get a bad grade, so let・s get going shall we? The main characters were so funny. I liked how Linda Sue Park talked to Julia in the book after each chapter that was unique. I also liked how she applied Patrick Julia・s best friend to herself and giving Julia an annoying little brother like Kenny. He was cute! The setting in this story was mostly at home and at school, sometimes on occasions it will be at Mr. Dixons getting mulsberry leaves for the silkworms. Now you are wondering huh silkworms? That・s what I am going to explain to you now. Julia and Patrick are in a club called the Wiggle Club and they have this big project on raising animals, they decide to raise silkworms. Julia found the project to "Asian", I can・t blame her. Since there are no mulberry trees where she lives she gave up. Surprisingly there is and she gets furious but doesn・t tell Patrick. After some time she enjoys it and appreciates the worms, learns Patrick's deepest secret and gets heartbroken but then happy. The first thing that draws me into this book was the first sentence :Patrick and I became friends because of a vegetable. Not just any vegetable, a cabbage.; That made me crack up! If I was going to rate this as a 10+! I would rate it a ten because it kept me laughing the whole way through it. I was always on my toes thinking what stupid thing will Julia do now? Also Julia reminded me a lot about myself I am Asian and have the same personality as her caring and "crazly" werid. Also both or our names are Julia and we both have a good friend named Patrick, that to me was really funny but also very freaky. I would change this book by adding what happened to the rest of the silkworms when they got sent away and how the tree was doing. Rater than that I loved this book and wish she would write a sequel!
