Mari writes the following about The Cybil War :
Have you ever been in a tight situation were your friends are involved? The Cybil War is a comedy book about a boy, Simon, and his best friend, Tony, who like the same girl. However, none of them will admit that they like this girl. How far will the boys go to impress this young lady? Will this affect the boys’ friendship? In my opinion, this book is very funny. For example, there is a part in the book where Simon walks over to Cybil’s house only to find Tony there. Simon hides in the bushes while Ms. Ackerman (Cybil’s mother) trims them. Will he get caught?? Read the book to find out. Another reason why I like this book is because it is in the perspective of a fifth grade boy who hides his feelings inside but thinks about them all the time. I recommend this book to anybody who likes funny and suspenseful adventures.
