Ja'Von writes the following about The Jacket :
I really loved this book! It all started when Phil, a white boy, had a brother with a jacket. So Phil ends-up running into a black kid named Daniel at school with the same jacket on. And Phil grabbed Daniel because he thought that Daniel had stolen his brother’s jacket. When it went on Phil figures out that he's prejudiced against black people. And Phil notices that if Daniel wasn’t black would he have grabbed him like that. Was it a mistake or is it more? I rated the story a 10 because it was a big change when somebody finally realizes that their prejudice. If I was Daniel, then I would have just told Phil sorry and give him the jacket instead of fighting each other. So if you love social issues in any book then you’ll love this one! There were some very detailed and specific pencil drawn pictures. If you get lost in what is happening, then all you need to do is look at the glorious pictures drawn by McDavid Henderson.
