Rockclimber13 writes the following about Deer Jack :
Dear Jack is a 219 page realistic fiction book by Del Peck. Dear Jack is about a 12 year old boy who is an orphan named David. David lives with the Tate family who do not appreciate David at all. Every Friday night the Tates would go out and play cards. They would not get back until late at night and then they would sleep in the next morning, so while the Tates were asleep David would sneak into town. One day when David was in town he met an artist lady named Mrs. Wilson. David starts to take a liking to Mrs. Wilson and goes back to see her every Saturday morning. One day Mr. Tate hit David and gave him a black eye. When Miss. Litler, David’s case worker found out about the incident David was moved out of the Tates home. David was happy to be leaving the Tates home but he was sad because he would no longer get to see Mrs. Wilson. Soon David is forced to go live in Seattle with his Aunt who also does not like him. Will David ever have a foster family that loves and respects him and will he ever get to see Mrs. Wilson again. Read and find out in this great book. I would give this book a 10 because I really like the story line. I don’t think I would change anything about this book because I love the way this book ended. ~Rockclimber13
