Dean writes the following about The Tale of One Bad Rat :
The Tale of One Bad Rat is a unique graphic novel. It tells the life story of young Helen. Reading through the book you learn Helen's story, you get a better understanding of what she has gone through and get closer to her. It showed me how much your childhood affects the rest of your life and how you deal with things. I do not think I could compare it to any other book because other than it being in the "realization" genre (meaning events happening in real life) it was different in its own ways. I may have changed the plot, ending, or the main character. The illustrations went along god with the story and gave you an even better understanding of what was going on. The pictures had great color quality. I rated the story with a 9 because I thought it was well thought out and I enjoyed it. I gave the illustrations an 8 because they fit the story well but i might have made them a bit more appealing. I would suggest this novel for mature eyes only for some mild language and scenes.
