Pam writes the following about Graphic Classics: O. Henry :
This book is full of different stories made up by the famous O.Henry and edited by Tom Pomplun. This book is for people of any age, young or old. One of my favorite stories is The Randsom of Red Chief. It is about the two men who go into a small town trying to find money. They decide that they are going to kidnap a child for a randsom. Well they were in for a suprise, because he was a bad little boy. He was torturing the men with his adventurous games. He tried to descalp one of the man in one of his games. Then he was using the man as a horse in another one of his games. The men became so fed up with the boy that they paid the boys father to take him back. Another one of my favorites is the Gift of the Magi. This story is about a couple who are not that wealthy and can't afford gifts for one another. The lady has very long hair which she values so much and the man has a watch that has a history in his family, well the lady cuts off her hair to by her husband a chain for his watch. Then the man sells his watch to buy combs for his wife's hair. They find out what they did and are happy to know that they care for each other. This is a very ironic story. These are only two of O.Heny's great works of literature, the book has more. You Should Read This One!!!
