bookworm writes the following about Wintering Well :
The book Wintering Well is about a boy named Will who has a dream to become a farmer, but he is a very good wood carver as well. Also this book takes place in the 1820s. One day when Will was out working on the farm he went to help his sister get away from a snake and he accidently dropped the axe on his leg. After a week just lying around trying to see if it would heal, it didn't so the family called a doctor to do old fashion surgery. When the surgery is over Will has no leg and he has to use a crutch and since he can't work on the farm he made wood carvings for him and his little brother, he has 4 brothers and 1 sister. When the doctor comes back to check on Will, Will gets interested in what the doctor does and it could give him an opportunity to have a dream again. Another day while he was out walking getting comfortable with the crutch he finds a wood carving business and the owner offers him a job if he can carve a carving for a big boat, this is another opportunity for him. What will he choose?
I recommend this book for anyone who likes historical fiction.
