Jason writes the following about Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry :
Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Milderd D. Taylor, is the book that I chose to read. I am very glad that I chose to read this book. This is because I found that there was enough action to keep me interested to the end. Also, the author introduced me to a differant point of view than I had previously known about the Great Depression in Mississippi.
The main character in this book is an African-American girl named Cassie, who lives with her family during the Great Depression. She soon faces some of the social prejudices of her community. In the end, she will always have the love of her family.
Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, is a type of book that you won't want to stop reading. On a scale of one to five, I would rate this book a perfect five. I would rate this book a five because the author was able to, in detail, describe scenes and events which could have happened during the Great Depresssion. Overall, this book deserves a five out of five rating because the author based the story on her own family.
