Austin Alspaugh writes the following about Rookie of the year :
If you like, baseball then this is your book. This book is Rookie of the Year by John R. Tunnis. This is a very interesting book and is kind of a weird book in a way. It is weird because when he has trouble pitching, the old pitcher comes out and tells him about the half two. The half two is half fear and half good. Then he said the rest of the stuff that he said he said it fast. When he walked away, they both said, "What did he say". They were both very confused. Then when he pitches he does well because he remembers the good part of the half two. This book is very interesting because when Henry when Henry is playing for his little league team he was very bad. Then one day at school, he was going to catch a ball and while he was going after it, he slipped on another ball that he did not see and he broke his arm. When he was healed, he went to the doctor and the doctor said that his tendons healed to tight. Then when he went to a Chicago Cubs game with his friends the opposite team hit a homerun, they had to throw it back, and when Henry threw it, he threw it all the way to home plate from the stands. When he went home the owner of the Chicago Cubs came over to his to his house and wanted him to pitch for the Chicago Cubs. So they went to a field and Henry threw some balls and he threw them about 100 hundred miles an hour. Jack Bradfield (Henry’s mom’s boyfriend) became Henry’s manager. Later in the story, Chet Stedmunde started to like Henry’s mom and the she started to like him to. Then Jack got jealous and wanted him fired. After they fired Chet, he was mad. Then one day when Henry got home and Jack said some really mean things about Henry’s father and then his mom came downstairs and punched Jack out the door. At the end, Henry faced a big person. He had two strikes on him and then for the last one he threw it underhand, and strikes him out. THE CUBS WON THE CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!
