The Giver is a book about a boy named Jonas living in a place called, "The Community." In The Community, there is no color, no choices, no love. Everyone has certain age groups. With these age groups, they advance to the next number every December until they hit 12. When they do, they have a ceremony. Called by the peoples of The Community, "The Ceremony Of The Twelves." In this Ceremony, the current 11's get their jobs that they will have until the day they go into the House of The Old. However, Jonas receives a special job. The job of "The Receiver Of Memory." And this is where the story begins.
This book is for sure, on the top 10 of my favorites. With beautiful story telling and creativity. It will have you wanting more and more. After reading cover to cover, you'll have many questions that you're burning to ask. For sure, this book will emotionally pull at your heart strings and have you on the edge of your seat. With heart-stopping moments and agonizing scenes, this book is a must read.
