karinthia writes the following about Catherine, Called Birdy :
this book is mainly about a girl name catherine and she doesnt want to get married and she feels traped from her father because he wants her to get married. Also this book is about catherine and she does thing that ladys are not suppose to do but then as i kept reading she finally starts to relize that she should not do boy things. In class which we callit a gender role. Gender role = is like a man jod and a women is noty suppose to do and as i continue to finish this book i hope that catherine will get married to and poor guy and not a wealthy one because she is not instrested into meeting a nice wealthy guy. I say this because when she a suitor was invited to her house for dinner she made her self look really messy and the suitor did not een care but she thought he did so she but goose fat and smuged something on her teeth so it could look like she had an gap and also she kapt making weird faces at him . In the beggining of the book i thought catherine as lazy and low self estime because she called her self ugly and she has no beauty but whhat u think of her now is emotional because in one journal entry pages 60-61 she was crying after seeing the funeral. before i started to read this book i thought that catherine was rebllious mean and cruel and independentbecause of the way she was on the front of the cover and she was holding the bucket over the mans head and she was being very sneaky. also before i got this book i thought that it was going to be boring but it was very intresting and i hope that alot more people read this book more because you are not suppose to judge a book by its cover.
