The Giver by Lois Lowery is all around a good book. The authors purpose for the book was to discribe their idea of eutopia. The writing style was very good is this book. The author really knows when to go into detail about things and when there is really no need to go into full detail. Jonas is the main chacter in this book and he was chosen to be the new Reciever Of Memory. The Reciever holds all the memories in the communiy and is the most honored assignment in the entire community. The only bad thing about this book is the ending. I didn't think the endig somes up the book. I think that the ending would have been better if there was a sequel to the book to tell what happened after they escaped the community. I would recomend this book to almost anyone who likes to read but, I warn you be prepared for the ending to make you insanely mad. I would give this book a four star rating out of five stars.
