CBballer21 writes the following about The Lightning Thief :
The book The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan is a 375 page, fantasy novel. Throughout the book you follow Percy Jackson, Grover and Annabeth while they search for Zeus’s master bolt, to prevent World War III from happening between the gods. While searching for the bolt, they find out more about Percy’s hazy past, and find his mother who was nearly killed while trying to save him. But they can’t do this without having some trouble. While on this adventure they travel from east coast to west coast and are confronted by mythical creatures and gods everywhere they go. I gave the illustrations a 6, because the only illustration is on the cover, and it says a little bit about the books main idea, but not a lot. I gave the writing a 9 because it uses references to Greek Mythology and is very fast paced. The only down fall is that it repeats a couple of things. One of the things that I would change about the book would be to have a little less traveling, because half of the time in the book they are either traveling by car, train or bus. But all in all it is a book worth reading.
