The book that I chose to read was Edward’s Eyes, an incredibly good realistic fiction by Patricia MacLachlan. This book’s main character is Jake and of course Edward. Edward is just being born into a family of many. To be exact, four siblings and his mom and dad. The book is pretty much a biography on Edward growing up in a unique family. Growing up with a brother that would take a bullet for him, and teaches him about everything there is to know about baseball, and someone Edward really looks up to. Jake’s that brother that Edward looks up to. Than mom has another baby, that they name Sabine. Sabine is the baby that Edward never takes his eyes off of. The book is pretty much the biography of Edward growing up loving baseball, and being an enthusiastic, fun loving kid. And that whenever you see his eyes you can only smile. At the end of the book something that you would think would ever happen, happens. This book is really sad but really great. I would give this book a ten all the way. I would give it a rating of ten because through out the whole book you never get bored. You are never able to predict what will happen next. And although there are no illustrations in the book the front cover is superb and not an actual picture, but a drawing, definitely a ten! This is by far my “favorite” book not only because of the illustrations but because of the true emotions within the book. Such as the ending, the book is only so sad, and I mean sad because of the ending. And if I could change anything about the book it would be the ending, the saddest ending I have ever read before. Read Edward’s Eyes and you will not regret reading the wonderful sentences that you won’t forget…
