Mason44 writes the following about Cirque Du Freak :
This book is about a boy named Darren Shan who snuck out one night to watch a Freak Show. He went in the middle of the night with his friend Steve and saw some very gruesome stuff. Later, he stole a vampire’s poisonous but controllable spider but it could be controlled but when it went crazy it bit Steve. He went to the hospital and was dying. So the owner of the spider Mr. Crepsly(the vampire) wanted his spider back and then he got it but he was the only person who had the antidote to heal Steve. Then Darren made a deal for the antidote, Mr. Crepsly said you can have the antidote and heal Steve but you have to become my Half-vampire assistant. This story takes place in…. well the Author doesn’t tell you the location of the book, but this is a great book by Darren Shan with a few pictures I would recommend this book to Middle school students who like a good quick read. On a scale of 1-10 I would give it an 8 because it’s not the best book in this Cirque Du Freak series. I would encourage you to read all 12 books in this series each one gets more and more exciting and intense.
