Abby writes the following about Ashes of Roses :
Ashes of Roses “Michal please, he needs me.” In this novel by Mary Jane Auch, Rose’s family arrives at Elis Island and then discovers that the youngest child can not enter America. Rose is left in the city with her sisters and mother after part of her family was forced to leave Elis Island. Can she find a job to support her family? Or will she and her family remain in poverty? I love this novel and I love this author. There is suspense hanging from every page and you’ll never want to put it down. Rose has to find her way around the city and convince the Americans she can work hard to earn money. She must get a job to support her family otherwise they will starve. The question is, can Rose get her whole family to come back to America? Or will she never see them again as she remains in America. I enjoyed this book very much with the many excitement events aand I believe everyone should read this dramatic, fictional history novel.
