Marothon looks on the sea
By: Olivia Coolidge
Miltiades was master to his slaves, but lord to no man. After his brother died, he left to rule in a distant land. He also left his son, Metiochos, behind. His son was very angry with him for abandoning him. Many times when his father returned, Metiochos avoided him.
Metiochos became close friends with The Great King Darius. He soon became governor of a province in Persia. Metiochos was always a favorite to Darius. A was breaks out between Athenians and the Persians. That war changes everything for Metiochos.
