rickybailey writes the following about Ghost soldiers :
the Book Ghost soldiers written by Hampton Sides is a World War II Non-Fiction novel. the book is based in the pacific theater, it is based on the island of the Philippines. the book is extremely written with background information and information on the people who were affected after word. during WW2 the Philippines were overtaken by the Japanese and 10,000 American troops and over 70,000 Philippines soldiers were captured. the book give information on what the soldiers endured before they surrendered because of low ammunition food and disease. and what they went through during their 3 year POW stay. the book gives details on how the japanese treated them the diseases that affected them and killed them, even about the area that surrounded them and how they survived. the book is split into 2 parts simultaneously each chapter goes through the prisoners problems and life and the life's and trip of the 500 Rangers that are sent to save them 3 years later when we finally recapture it. the book is extremely well written using vivid imagery details and comments. i would tell anyone that asked me for a good WW2 book to read it. i love the book and i think others would to.
