+Frack writes the following about Jade Green :
Jade Green, by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, is an exciting ghost story about an orphan named Judith Sparrow. Judith Sparrow moved in with her uncle and the cook in the state of South Carolina. Judith's father died a few years back leaving her mother to take care of her and the house. Judith and her mother were forced to sell all valuables in the house, for her father left them bankrupt. Her mother soon died after from depression, at least that is what the doctors told Judith. Judith was on her way to the Carolinas on a horse and carriage. All her stuff from her house in Ohio, except everything that was green was in the back. Her uncle told to bring what she'd like, besides the things that were green. Although she had to bring a silk green picture frame from her mother. She arrived to the house in the town called Whispers. Her uncle's house was old, rickety, and didn't look much like a home. The cook, Emma Hastings, invited her in with a bright greeting smile. Her Uncle Geoffrey helped with the trunks and instructed her what to do. Mrs. Hastings brought out a lovely meal. Her cousin Charles came to dinner with a fare smile, but wasn't very greeting. Summer began and she met new people, places, and a ghostly hand. The hand belonged to Jade Green. Would she ever return it to the rightful grave, or will it haunt her forever?
