Alec writes the following about Guts :

In the book Guts Gary Paulsen writes about his childhood. In this book he writes the true stories behind Hatchet and The Brian books. If you enjoyed the brian and hatchet books you should read Guts. I gave the book a 9.5 because you have to read his other books to understand it. I gave his illistations a 6.5 because there weren't many pictures and it is hard to understand them unless you read the Hatchet and Brian books and then Guts. Overall Guts is a great book. If you end up reading it and you dont like it try reading some of Gary Paulsens books By Alec Witkowski
