Nickster Incorporated writes the following about Abarat :
Abarat is fantasy adventure book kind of like a twisted version of Alice in Wonderland. It starts of with a girl named Candy Quackenbush, being assigned to do a report on the town she lives in (Chicken Town). Candy then finds that there are dark secrets to the town, she finds herself at a hotel that had supernatural occurances, she then finds herself in another world. Throughout the book she investigates this strange place, the good and the bad. The book is perfectly complimented with wonderful and vibrant illustrations explaining the surroundings and the creatures and things Candy finds. I liked this book, but it was a little long and sometimes it just kinda dragged on in certain parts. Abarat is the first book of two. *_^
