Book One “The Capture”
The main characters of the book are Soren, Kludd (Soren’s older brother), Egalitine (Soren’s baby sister), Noctus (Soren’s Dad), Marilla (Soren’s Mom), Gylfie (Soren’s best friend), Twilight (An owl who went through the same process as Soren), and Mrs. Plither( The nest maid).
The plot of this book is the attack of St. Aggie’s Academy. In this Academy baby owls are captured and brought up as orphans. They are treated like a little worm and are fed only one cricket a meal. Soren is tourtured when he asks a question. (His feathers are torn out)While Soren is there, the owls at St. Aggie’s try to moonshine them, which is brain washing, which then leads to Soren’s knowledge of St.Aggie’s. Anyone who tries to help them or further their knowledge is killed. When Soren and Gylfie escape they are met by Twilight. Twilight shows them the life without their parents. With Twilight they have their first fur and bone ceremony.
My opinion of this book is that it’s well written and takes your mind on an adventure. I would recommend this book to ages ten and up. The reason for this is that in the book the concepts are too sophisticated for younger readers.
Some good points of this book is that you have better knowledge of the nesting, food, and living routines of owls. A bad point of this book is the violence which is dished out by St.Aggie’s Academy.
