Kyle Cayton writes the following about Time For The Stars :
Kyle Cayton February 20, 2008 Time For The Stars Time for the Stars is a science fiction novel written by Robert A. Heinlein. The main characters are Tom and Pat Bartlett. Tom and Pat are identical twin teenagers. They find out that they are telepathic from the Long Range Foundation (L.R.F). The Long Range Foundation is a non-profit organization that funds expensive, long-term project that benefits mankind. They built twelve exploration spaceships that can only travel near light speed. The Long Range Foundation wanted to explore the stars to see if there was a planet like Earth because Earth was over crowed. When Pat and Tom found out that they could read each others minds, the Long Range Foundation was testing them. The Long Range foundation was testing twins and triplets to find out if they were telepathic. Once they found enough telepathic twins they broke the bad news, one twin will go on the ship and search the stars for another planet like Earth and stay young and the other will have to stay on earth and get old and die. The twins in space will telepath what they found to the twin on Earth. That way the L.R.F could keep track of what was happening in space. Tom was going to go on the ship but, he broke his leg going skiing so Pat went. While Pat was in space the captain died and the second captain stepped in. The space ship was almost out of gas and the captain wouldn’t turn around and go back to Earth so the twins on the space ship took over the ship from the captain. When the space ship was on the way back they found out that the L.R.F found out that they could make the space ship go faster then the speed of light. When the twins on the space ship got back to Earth they found out that they did not fit into the new world because of all the new Tec knowledge. My opinion of this book is that it was very interesting because the twins were telepathic. I recommend this book for eighth graders and freshmens in high school. I recommend this book because it shows how you and your brother that you are closer than you think.
