Karen writes the following about Out of the Dust (Newbery Medal Book) :
This book is about this family leaving dear the dust bowl. And billie Jo wich is the little girl her mom dies giveing brith to her baby brother. Thats really sad because she can not get over it. Then this family comes to her school and this man asked the teacher if they could stay the night at the class because his wife is pregnet. The main characters are Bille Jo, father, and mother. This was in Oklahoma. It was in 1934-1935 during the dust bowl.
The strengths of Out Of The Dust was when Bille JO made a good grade better then 8th graders. Then Billie Jo tolled her mom that she had made a good grade. The weaknesses is when her mom dies giving brith to her baby brother.
I recommand this book because you can learn about the past. By Karen Hesse she was the one who wrote this book. This was a great and enjoable book. You will love this book.
