Tempest writes the following about Out of the Dust (Newbery Medal Book) :
Out of the Dust is a wonderful book! It's about a girl named Bille Jo Kelby. Her father was hoping for a boy. She is about 10 years old. She had burned her hand so, her dad was going to put some kerosene on her burn. Her mother was fixing breakfast. Pa went outside to the barn. Ma was pregnant at the time. Ma was thinking that the kerosene was water and started a rope of fire. Ma hurried outside to tell Pa. Bille Jo was going to throw out the kerosene. But instead of landing on the ground it went all over ma. It only got on Bille Jo's hands. About a couple of months later Ma dies giving birth to her son, Franklin. Bille Jo is trying to adapt to life without her Ma.

In Out of the Dust, there were some strengths,imagery,figure-tive launguge, and peotry format. The weaknesses were her mom dying and the author not letting ma let Bille Jo play the piano.

Yes, I do recommend this book! It made me want to cry. It has "historical happenings" if you love history! This book is so sad but great! Once again I do recommend this book, for all ages!
