Sebastian writes the following about Because of Winn-Dixie [UNABRIDGED] :
The summer Opal and her father, the preacher, move to a small town in Florida, Opal goes into a supermarket and comes out with a dog, a dog she names Winn-Dixie. Because of Winn-Dixie, the preacher finally tells Opal ten things about her absentee mother one for every year that Opal has been alive. Because of Winn-Dixie, Opal meets Miss Franny Block, who once fought off a bear with a copy of War and Peace. They meet Gloria Dump, who is nearly blind but sees with her heart; Otis, who sets his pet-shop animals loose after hours and lulls them with his guitar The book is abut trust and friendship between a dog and its owner like when Winn-Dixie was scared of thunder and lilting opal grabs Winn-Dixie and calms him down or wan she rescued Winn-Dixie from going to the pound
